I know, mom.

This whole week I have been pretty crazy.  Like, my husband told me I was acting like a crazy mom, and I couldn't even get mad at him because it was true.  Life at the moment just seems a little bit like a fog.  Living in a new place is lonely, family members are going through horrible trials far away and I feel helpless, raising a 4 year old isn't easy,  insecurities,  job searches, never ending school, etc.  It has all just sort of hit me at once and I have been very short tempered and well, crazy.  Every single night I vow to be better the next day.  "I will not yell at the child.  I will be productive.  I will be patient."  Some days I do better than others, but most nights I still go to bed thinking about the times I irrationally lost my temper or let Trey play the ipad for way too long, and I feel a little bit like a failure.
Today was a little better of a day, not perfect by any means, but it was ok.  After I had put Trey to bed, he came into the bathroom where I was washing my face.  He came to talk to me about a toy or something, he is good at stalling:) I told him it was bedtime and to please go back to bed.  He started walking back to his room and I yelled, "I love you Trey!"  I don't know why his reply made such an impact on me tonight, he has said it before, but tonight it made me think.  He said, with a smile,  "I know, mom."
His reply made me think of two different things.  The first one is that I am way too hard on myself.  It is good to be aware of my faults and never stop trying to be better, but I also need to realize that I am a person, a mother, and that being impatient and yelling will happen.  It doesn't make me a bad mom.  The fact that he knows I love him, means I am doing something right.  I then thought about all of the times during the day where I show him I love him, and most days those actions are far more than the ones I worry about every night.
The second thought that came to my mind was, would all of the people I love respond the same way? Do I show my family and friends that I love them, or do they sometimes have to wonder? It is so easy to get caught up in yourself and only worry about what is going on in your own life.  Easy to feel sorry for yourself.  It is important to me that the people I love, know it.  Tonight was a good little reminder for me to make sure they do:)

Our New Home

Here are a few pictures of our cute new place in Claremont. My inlaws did a LOT of work to make it as nice as it is now, we are very grateful!!

It's not all finished, my decorating I mean;) But that changes all the time, so who knows if it will ever really be finished! We really love it though, and after living in Chicago, we are especially grateful for a driveway to park in!! Having a place to park is a life changer;)

The happiest place on earth!

Yesterday my mom and I took Trey to Disneyland for the first time. My uncle, aunt and two cousins were also there so we spent the day with them. Trey and I were so excited and happy to be there, it really is a magical place! We went on ride after ride, had lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, watched the parade and the fireworks.  Trey was so happy the whole day and was such a trooper, he never complained or slowed down:) It really was a perfect day at Disney, better than I could have asked for!! Some of the highlights for Trey:
-meeting Mickey, it was his number one goal
-hanging out with my cousins, Austin and Bryce. He wanted to hold their hands the whole time and had to sit next to them wherever we went
-riding thunder mountain;)
-waving to every character at the parade
-pirates
Now you can enjoy some horrible quality phone photos, these days I have to just snap away and hope he ends up in the frame most of the time! The kid never stops moving!!

This was Trey trying to walk up to bed when we got home:) Until next time Disneyland, we love you!!

Halloween 2014

I absolutely LOVE Halloween!  We have only been living in California for a couple of months, so it is our first Halloween here.  I'm so happy my mom was able to come for the week and spend Halloween with us!  This morning we got up early and had delicious pumpkin pancakes.  I'm grateful for Trader Joe's and all of their yummy gluten free items:) Then Trey, my mom and I went to the Village to shop in some antique stores.  Not the wisest place to take a 4 year old, but we still had fun with him;)  We had lunch at a taco place we like and they had a wonderful Halloween atmosphere, music and all.  I love festive places! Later Chris met up with us and we took Trey trick or treating around the Village.  I will do a separate post sometime with pictures of the Village, it's the best part about Claremont!  It was fun, but got super crowded fast!  After we were done we took a break at home before heading out to trick or treat again with Trey's little friend Charlie.   Trey and Charlie are great friends, but they clash a lot when they both want to do something.  So pretty soon after we started trick or treating, they were racing each other to the doors to try and knock first.  Then there was some yelling, maybe some pushing....Trey started crying and being irrational (sugar high), so once it got ridiculous I said we were going home.  Insert stupid crazy tantrum.  After the screaming and crying stopped, we had a nice calm chat and figured things out.  We found Charlie again, the boys said they were sorry, and they held hands to each door until we finished.  So other than a few crazy moments, it was a great Halloween!  Here are a few pictures from today:)
Trey usually hates pictures and avoids them, but he just kept whippin out these moves today!

I look forward to Halloween and Christmas all year, I can't believe Halloween is already over!! They really go so fast, that is why I start decorating for Halloween in September and Christmas in November:) Happy Happy Halloween!!!!!

Our lovely Chicago home for sale

I love our little place here in Chicago. I wish so much that we could pack it up and take it to California with us!! It is about 100 years old and has so much character. I worked hard to make it into a comfy little home for us and I really am so sad to let it go. Since we are moving later this summer it will be up for sale soon, so if you know anyone who is looking in the area, tell them to come check it out! I am posting a bunch of photos for that reason, and also so I will always remember our home here in Chicago. I really should have waited for some better lighting before I took these, but our house was squeaky clean so I jumped on the chance to take some photos before the boys made a mess of things;) I am also including some "before" photos from when we moved in, just for fun.

First here are the "Before" photos:

And now LOTS of photos from today:)

We love you little home, we will miss you:(
